How To Use

1.0 INSPECTION

Carefully unpack and inspect your Envirovac (EV-2) vacuum cleaner for shipping damage. Each vacuum cleaner is tested and thoroughly inspected before being shipped; therefore, any damage is the responsibility of the delivering carrier, who should be notified.

2.0 PRE-USAGE NOTES AND TESTING PROCEDURES

WARNING: THIS APPLIANCE MUST BE GROUNDED.

2.1 GROUNDING INSTRUCTIONS

WARNING: DO NOT OPERATE UNIT WITHOUT A PROPER GROUND SOURCE.

This vacuum cleaner is equipped with a cord having an equipment-grounding conductor and grounding plug. The plug must be plugged into an appropriate outlet that is properly installed and grounded in accordance with all local codes and ordinances. Ensure that the fuse/breaker on the electrical panel is of the correct rating and exceeds the maximum current rating shown on the technical data sticker of the vacuum unit.

DANGER: Improper connection of the equipment-grounding conductor can result in a risk of electric shock. Check with a qualified electrician or service person if you are in doubt as to whether an outlet is properly grounded. Do not modify the plug provided with the vacuum cleaner. If it will not fit the outlet, have a proper outlet installed by a qualified electrician. No adaptor should be used with this vacuum cleaner

2.2 IMPORTANT SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

WARNING: THIS VACUUM CLEANER IS DESIGNED FOR DRY RECOVERY ONLY. DO NOT RECOVER LIQUIDS.

WARNING: IF VACUUM CLEANER IS USED FOR THE RECOVERY OF TOXIC OR HAZARDOUS SUBSTANCES SUCH AS: ASBESTOS, SILICA, LEAD, PESTICIDES, ETC., THE FOLLOWING SAFETY PRECAUTIONS MUST BE TAKEN:

1. Vacuum cleaner must be equipped with a HEPA filter.

2. Service and operation should only be carried out by trained personnel wearing appropriate garments and breathing apparatus.

3. Dispose of collected materials responsibly. Follow jurisdictional requirements for the disposal of hazardous materials.

NOTE: Any health hazard associated with the use of this vacuum cleaner in conjunction with the recovery of asbestos and other hazardous substances has not been investigated.

WARNING: To reduce the risk of fire, electrical shock, or injury:

1. Do not leave vacuum cleaner when plugged in. Unplug from outlet when not in use and before servicing.

2. Do not allow vacuum cleaner to be used as a toy. Close attention is necessary when used by or near children.

3. Use only as described in this manual. Use only with recommended attachments.

4. Do not use with damaged cord or plug. If vacuum cleaner is not working as it should, has been dropped, damaged, left outdoors, or dropped into water, return it to a service centre.

5. Do not: pull or carry by cord, use cord as a handle, close a door on cord, or pull cord around sharp edges or corners. Do not run vacuum cleaner over cord. Keep cord away from heated surfaces.

6. Do not unplug by pulling on cord. To unplug, grasp the plug, not the cord.

7. Do not handle plug or appliance with wet hands.

8. Do not put any object into openings. Do not use with any openings blocked; keep free of dust, lint, hair and anything that may reduce air flow. Poor ventilation will result in overheating of motor.

9. Keep hair, loose clothing, fingers and all parts of body away from openings and moving parts.

10. Do not pick-up anything that is burning or smoking such as cigarettes, matches or hot ashes, etc.

11. Do not use without appropriate filters in place.

12. Turnoff all controls before unplugging.

13. Use extra care when cleaning on stairs.

14. Do not: pick-up flammable or combustible liquids such as gasoline, or use in areas where they may be present.

15. Never operate unit unless the power-head is securely fastened to the recovery tank with latches.

16. Connect to a properly grounded outlet only. See grounding instructions.

3.0 FILTRATION SYSTEM

3.1 PFB (Paper Filter Bag)

EV-2 (Dual motors)

1 paper filter Bag (Disposable) : Collects the bulk of recovered materials and facilitates emptying

2 Main Filter (Washable): Made of polyester cloth

3 HEPA (High Efficiency Particulate air) Filter: With minimum efficiency of 99.99% on 0.3 micron.

4 Poly Liner "Nest" (optional): To facilitate the removal of paper filter bag

A. Working air intake / suction inlet

B. Working air exhaust

C. Cooling air intake

D. Cooling air exhaust

E. Wire cage for main filter

4.0 OPERATING PROCEDURE

1. Connect vacuum hose to Y connector on Envirovac (EV-2). If only one hose is to be used, plug second opening with supplied rubber plug and tighten.

2.Do not pull vacuum using the vacuum hoses

3. Always insure the Envirovac (EV-2) is in a steady and even platform.

4.When using the EBCH-1 Chipping Hammer Boots:

A Use vacuum unit on low speed when using one EBCH-1, high speed when using two EBCH-1's. or EB-1's

B When using only one EB-1 or EBCH-1 boot, plug the second opening of the Y fitting with the supplied rubber plug and tighten.

5. When using two EB-1 EnviroBoots, set motor speed to high.

6. Always use the paper bag filters to insure proper filtration and extend HEPA filtration

life.

5.0 MAINTENANCE
5.1 CLEANUP PROCEDURE AFTER USE

1. Disconnect power cord from electrical outlet.

2. Disengage latches and remove power head from recovery tank.

3. Remove cloth filter from recovery tank.

4. Clean the cloth filters periodically. A clogged filter restricts the air flow and reduces the vacuum's performance. The cloth filters may be washed in lukewarm water.

5. Remove Paper Bag Filter and discard into a suitable container.Paper filter bags may not be reused once full, they must be discarded.

NOTE: Ensure that cloth filters is completely dry before reinstallation in vacuum cleaner.

5.2 STORAGE

1. It is recommended that the inside of the recovery tank be cleaned before storing the Envirovac (EV-2) vacuum. The inside of the recovery tank should be dry at all times.

2. The suction intake coupler must be closed off with the storage cap provided.

5.3 HEPA FILTER REPLACEMENT

A HEPA filter is designed for filtration of ultra fine particles . A clogged HEPA filter will reduce the air flow thereby reducing the vacuum's performance thus requiring replacement.

The life of the HEPA filters depends greatly on the use of the vacuum cleaner. It is recommended that the HEPA filter be replaced once a year if the vacuum is used intensively: (daily). The filter can be replaced every two years if the vacuum cleaner is used less frequently (two or three times per week)

WARNING: If vacuum is used for the recovery of toxic materials proper clothing and the use of an appropriate breathing apparatus is necessary when servicing the HEPA filter housing or any other contaminated part of the unit.

1. Disconnect the power cord from the electrical outlet.

2. Disengage the latches and remove the power unit from the recovery tank.

3. Unscrew the three hex nuts securing the cylindrical HEPA housing assembly to the underside of the lid.

4. Remove the HEPA housing assembly and discard the old HEPA filter.

5. Carefully inspect the seal gasket on the HEPA housing top mating surface for wear and breaks. Replace gasket if defective.

6. Verify that all three neoprene spacers are present inside the HEPA housing, otherwise the HEPA filter won't function properly.

7. Insert the new filter into the housing.

8. Securely fasten the HEPA housing using the three hex nuts.

9. Dispose of the contaminated filter according to government regulations. (If applicable)
